Week 17 Of Project 52

Week 17 of Project 52 will have to be another easy project, Boxy Quilted Pouch.  I got the pattern when it was on Craftsy  but I have a link for you to the oringial designer if you want to make your own.  I have three of these on my project list.  Here is the first one:

These are fun little pouches to make. I have made others.  You can check it out here and here and here.  I should go through my stash and combine more fat quarters.  But that's for another day, I have too many projects to get caught  up on right now.  Maybe for Round Two of Project 52?

Slow And Steady

Slow and steady is my mantra.  I did complete another block for my Sampler Quilt.

And I worked on Clue Three for Rhododendron Trail, Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt for 2021.  Almost done with those and will be ready to go to Clue Four.  As I said, slow and steady.

Finished A Block

I finished a block for my Sampler quilt.  I had to redo it 3 times but it's finally finished with all the fabrics in the correct places.  For some reason I was having trouble with the HSTs that had three fabrics.

I still haven't started my swing bag and I did find another easy one for the next project which I will share tomorrow.  I've been trying to catch up on my Sampler Quilt blocks so hopefully that happens soon.

I think I need a list of UFOs of the UFOs.

Update

I have an update on Project 52 projects and the others as well.

The canning jar table topper has been pin basted and quilted!  So nice to have the topper that far along.  I'll be cutting out the binding next so that I can sew that on at my next class.

I worked on Week 15 of Project 52 yesterday also.  The kind of jelly roll racer quilt is coming together nicely.  I forgot to get a picture, I will get one soon.

The Swing Bag is still untouched.  I'm planning on working on that today or tomorrow.  I also need to do some cleaning in my sewing room.  And maybe a little rearranging.

Tuesday I had a little issue with my Featherweight sewing machine so yesterday it went to get cleaned and oiled.  It was due for a good cleaning.  I love sewing on that machine so I miss it when it's having a spa day.

That's it for the update.  Hope you're having fun with your sewing projects

Week 16 Of Project 52

This is Week 16 of Project 52.  And this week's project will be another "Twist" Bag.

I am down to the last two "Twist" Bags, this week's and one more.  I'm still working on Week 15's project and I have a couple of rows sewn together.  So I hope to complete it this week so I can have a backing for one of my quilt tops.

Sadly

Sadly I didn't make much progress on Week 15 of Project 52, so I'm going to figure out another easy project so I can get some things caught up.  Part of my problem is taking on new projects when I should be concentrating on the old ones.  But that's not near as much fun, right?  LOL

This week was the start of the second table topper in Jean's current series of toppers.  I have the top done and ready to be basted.  So that's good.

The deep purple fabric for the sashing has been in my stash since 1996! It's been a really hard purple to match up with anything.  But it did blend well with my border fabric.  I'm going to use that purple for the binding and what is left will get cut up and added to my "Scrape Users System" per Bonnie Hunter.  This system has been so useful for me.

Well This Is A First

Well this is a first.

I didn't sew on the side I had pinned. I was only about half way down the seam when I noticed.  What in the world?  How did I do that?  And why did I do that?

Easy.  I set my "to be sewn pieces" in front of my machine and pick them up and send them through.  I had them set up the wrong way.  I just grabbed the first set and sewed.

Set up the wrong way.

These are correct.

What a creature of habit.  But that's what makes it go faster, I can go on auto drive, when I have it set up correctly that is.

Surpise!

I got a little surprise yesterday after I started cutting the white fabric.  I had already set things up AND sewn together the 2 strips into circles of the Christmas fabric.  Guess I was further along than I thought.  So, I bagged up the white strips and the rest of the fabrics and put them in a bag.  I'm sure I'll need 2.5 inch strips for something else some day.  I hope to play with the cutting today.

Yesterday was Jean's Table Topper Class.  I was able to complete the six canning jars of  "food".  Others were putting different things in their jars, such as shells.  You could really have fun coming up with different things for the jars.

I also am slowing working on Bonnie Hunter's Mystery quilt, Rhododendron Trail and I finished Clue number two.  Woohoo!   Cutting  Clue number three!  Slowly but surely...

Getting Started

I'm getting started on Week 15.  I need to finish cutting the background strips for "Meet In The Middle".

I also did some quilt math for this since I decided I wasn't going to follow the pattern exactly.  I'm not going with the 5 pieces, I'm leaving my strip all one length and adding the background strip to it.  At least that's what I'm thinking for now.

Week 15 of Project 52

Week 15 of Project 52 is a pattern called "Meet In The Middle" by Jo Kramer at Jo's Country Junction blog.

Back in 2011 I took my Christmas fabric and made my own jelly rolls so I could make these jelly roll racer quilts.  You can see them here, here, here, and here.  The last one shows you this batch of fabric that I'm using. (I think I got tired of racers and that's why this one was never completed.)

I may have enough strips cut to get two quilts, but for Project 52 I am only making one.  I think when I put the strips in the old salad container, I was planning on using 2 strips of Christmas fabric.  Now I think that would be too busy.  Not sure if I'm going to cut according to pattern or wing some sort of idea off of that.  So many decisions before I even get started!

Week 14 Of Project 52 is Complete!

Week 14 of Project 52 is complete!

I added the binding to the potholders so that they created a loop by using the instructions given on this YouTube video.   She gave such very clear and easy to follow instructions so that these potholders were together in no time.

I'm thinking about making some more since these went together so fast...

I Love Small Projects

I love small projects as it doesn't take long to complete them!  I made a pillowcase to have on hand out of some fabric I had in my stash.

I should go through my stash and find fabric for another pillowcase.  They go together so fast!

Another Finish

I had another finish yesterday.  I don't know how long ago I completed this table topper top or even how long ago I got it all pin basted so I could quilt it.  I do know it has been hanging by my Bernina waiting for me to quilt it for about a year.  And it finally happened yesterday!

This is a table topper kit I bought at Prairie Star Quilts when the State Bird fabric came out.  I have these little Gold Finches at my feeders and they are fun to watch.  Their color is so vivid!

I'm excited to have another finish!  And this one wasn't on any of my lists!  Guess I better get my list out and get this week's Project 52 done!

Table Toppers

I'm taking a class from Jean called "Piping Hot Table Toppers". You can see more about this class at Jean's blog here.   Our first topper is complete and we are starting on the second one, the canning jars of food.  I never made a bug jar quilt when they were popular back in the day, so I'm excited to make this one of "canned" food.

But here is my first topper, made with turtle fabric from my stash.

And the back -

We also learned how to make a faux piping on the binding.  I love this little detail.

It's nice to have this one completed.

Remember Week Three?

Remember Week Three of Project 52?  I didn't get it completely done as I forgot the sashing around the center flower blocks.  I went back and took the fencing off and added the sashing.  And the top sat for a few more weeks.  Well today I decided to see if I could get this project further along.  And I did!

The top is complete!  Now I need to find backing fabric and batting so I can quilt this.  Not sure if I want it as a table topper or if I'm going to make it into a wall hanging.  I think at one time I was leaning towards a table topper.

Week 14 of Project 52

Time to chose Week 14 of Project 52.  And this weeks Project is a couple of potholders that need binding.

They are sitting on my ironing table and I added freezer paper to protect it, per Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville Inn Tip.  The Fat Quarter Shop also shared that tip.  And that tip has been great.  Hoping it makes the cover last a little longer.

And a further update on Week 13 of Project 52, I have all the columns sewn and have started adding the sashing.  WooHoo!

Great Progress

I have been making great progress on Week 13 Project 52, Sadie's Stash.  I have three of the columns done and the other ones are ready to sew.  Yay!

However, I couldn't stop myself from starting Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt.  Check it out here.  I told myself that I was only going to print out the clues so I could make it later this year. And I was holding myself to that.  But seeing what everyone had created on Facebook and Instagram and on Bonnie's blog, I couldn't control myself.  LOL  Clue number one is done!

And I have been busy working at cutting Clue number two.  I'm using stash only unless I don't have any of a color at all.  So far I've managed to find all the fabric I need.

Week 13 of Project 52

It's onto Week 13 of Project 52.  And for this week I am working on a pattern called "Sadie's Stash".  This pattern was in the June/July 2011 copy of "Quick Quilts" .  I cut all the pieces out except for the sashing and borders.  Plus I had already sewn a couple of sets.

We'll see how far I get this week.

Week 12 Of Project 52 Completed

Week 12 of Project 52 is completed!  WooHoo!

I love the fabrics I chose for this bag, pretty wild but all colors pulled from the Laurel Burch cat fabric.

I also have to share a funny story concerning the felt mice.  Remember these?

I had two hanging on my son's tree for my grandchildren and my granddaughter thought they looked like aliens!  Here's a picture of just one of the mice.

Now that she has said that, all I can see is the alien.  LOL
