Secret Project

My secret project is complete and has been received by the person I made it for!

A Quilted Hug!  I "made" the outside layer of fabric from two inch squares.  Two yards by about 44 inches.

The outside fabric
The lining fabric

The pattern calls for a hook and loop closure but I didn't have any and I was trying to use stash.  So I made a loop and covered a button for the closure.  (I bought a bunch of the covered buttons when the  Hancock Fabrics near me went out of business.)

The Quilted Hug Project has a Facebook page here.  And you can find a free pattern here.  Also a very helpful YouTube video here.  The Quilt Guild I belong to is making these for some nursing homes in the area as a community project.

Progress!

Some progress has been made on my miscut Gnomes!

The pattern should have all four sides looking like the upper left and lower right hand corners.  But because of my miscut, I will only have two.  The other two corners will look like the upper right hand corner.  But I'm so happy I had enough fabric and skill to make this miscut work out!

MisCut

Well I had a miscut.  I cut this pattern out last summer and I was starting to sew it together yesterday.  Guess what?  I cut my HSTs the wrong size.  And of course they were smaller than what was needed for the pattern.

The pattern is "Spaceman" by Running Doe Quilts for Villa Rosa Designs.  A great pattern for use with a panel.  Stay tuned for how I end up fixing it.  Who knows how it will end up!

I have been watching my daffodils in the front yard and the plantings we have in the backyard bloomed first!  So happy to see their cheery blossoms!

Happy Spring!

Good Morning!

Good Morning!  It's sunny this morning and going to be a warmer day.  Spring feels like it may come.  My daffodils are popping up and I am looking forward to their lovely yellow blooms.

But in the meantime, I have this lovely top finished.  I'm excited by the Spring look of it.

The pattern is called "Walk In The Park" by V and Co.  You can click on the name and it will take you to V and Co website.  Robin at Log Cabin Quilt Shop in Elkhorn, Iowa put the kit together for me.  The background is a white grunge and the flowers are Ombre Confetti Metallic also by V and Co.

Now to decide on backing.  I was thinking pink minky, but that maybe too warm for a Spring quilt.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

November 2020 Dirty Dozen

The November 2020 Dirty Dozen is finished!  I decided yesterday to just sit down and finish them up.  I finished one about a month ago, but had the other two to get to the finish line.
