Table Topper

I bought a table topper kit and pattern while on my bus trip.  Here it is all made up!

The length is about the width of fabric.

Close up of the fabric.  I thought it was cute.  Not sure of the designer or manufacturer.

This is how the ends look.

It's super simple, like the 10 minute table toppers you can find on YouTube but without the triangle ends.

A Finish

I finished another Super Easy Table Runner.  I had this cut out and it was sitting on my cutting table, so I decided to at least sew the top together.  But I just kept going!  And now I have A Finish!  It was so beautiful yesterday that I sat on the deck and did the hand sewing of the binding.

Are you seeing a theme?  I'm cleaning off my cutting table. But I'm not throwing things in a bin or a bag, but working on them.  OK, the jelly roll racer strips did go into bags, but that's because I want to take them with me to the Quilt Retreat. Still have some fabric I ironed waiting for hexagons to be drawn on it.  Then I have to get the guest bedroom cleaned up.  I've been throwing storing the finished tops in there along with some fabric I think will work for the backing.  I guess I better get the backings ready to go.

Duuuh!

I was looking at all the 2.5 inch strips of Christmas fabric on my cutting table, trying to figure out how I would store them.  Should I put them all back in the bin they came out of?  Should I look for another bin/tub to put them in?  Then it hit me!  Duuuh!  Pack them into kits to be sewn together!

So I now have a total of 5 jelly roll racer kits to take with me to the Quilt Retreat.  I think I should have enough to keep me busy!  I could even check out some of the other kits I have.  I do have a wool kit I started to cut last Fall plus I've been cutting hexies.

I did finish cutting all of my paper templates out yesterday.  There were some great old movies on TMC that I have never seen.  Plus it was a rainy day, a perfect way to spend the afternoon. (I did some cleaning in the morning.)

I even have more dryer sheets ready to be made into string blocks.  Should I take those too?  You know, just in case I run out of things to do.....

Super Easy Table Runner

Super Easy Table Runner

Supplies:
12 Five inch charm squares
1/2 yard fabric for sashing
1/2 yard fabric for backing
1/3 yard fabric for binding
piece of batting 43 inches by 18 inches

From the sashing fabric: cut 2 strips 1 1/2" by WOF*, and 4 strips 2 1/2" by WOF

Now from the 1 1/2" strips cut 10 - 1 1/2" by 5"
From the 2 1/2 inch strips cut 3 - 2 1/2" by 32"
                                             2 -  2 1/2" by 15"

*WOF stands for width of fabric.

Start by setting out the charm squares with the 1 1/2" by 5" sashing.  Find an arrangement that is pleasing to you.  Sew these sashing strips to each of the charm squares.

Set the sashing pieces that are 2 1/2" by 32" between the charm rows and on the outside of the charm rows then sew.  ( I pin everything, but if you don't like pinning, go for it!)

To each end add one of the 2 1/2" by 15" pieces.

And it's done.  Now sandwich the backing, batting and top in your favorite way and quilt.  Add binding and you're done.  (There are lots of tutorials out there for sandwiching, quilting and binding if you need help.)  Very fast and super easy!

As always, if you have any questions or need more information, let me know.  Have fun!
