Catching Up

I need to do a little catching up.  I had a couple more finishes that I haven't posted, so here they are!

Finish Number Eight,

First up is a Redwork baby quilt.  It's a preprinted panel to embroider.  I decided to do it in red thread.  I finished the embroidery quickly and got it pinned and ready to quilt.  And there is where I got stuck.  What color of thread to quilt with?  I ended up going with a silver gray as there are clouds all around the sleeping baby.  I'm not happy with the way the back looks, but it is a finish!

Finish Number Nine is this quilt from "Diamond Chain Quilts".

This was a great challenge as it was one of the first times I had pieced diamonds.  I learned lots of tricks with this quilt, and it was worth it!

So I think this may have things caught up, but I may have some other project I forgot about.

Embroidery

I've been working on my embroidered quilt.  I had found some batting to use and have that all basted on.  Still on the first block, I know, really really slow.  But I am enjoying the journey.

Busy Weekend

Sorry about not posting, it has been a busy weekend.

Saturday was Quilt Day.  I spent the time there cutting Christmas fabric into 8 inch squares.  You would have thought that I would have a ton of squares cut, but I spent way too much time talking and visiting with friends that I haven't seen in a while.

Sunday I did very little stitching, only one string block. But it was something.  I'm thinking I need to get back to my little embroidery quilt. It has been so hot and humid that I don't want to go out of the house.  Last night at 10:00 p.m. it was still 84 degrees according to our weather station.

Longarm Quilting

I took a class today at A Quilting Place  http://aquiltingplaceomaha.com/     I have a longarm quilting machine but have been a little intimidated by it as I don't spend enough time with it.  So I took a class to refresh myself.  I know the Quilt Minsitry has many Project Linus quilts that need quilting, so I'm going to pick up a few of those and start practicing on them.

Baby Quilt I quilted at "A Quilting Place."
Bought some more Hobbs 80/20 quilt batting to keep at the embroidery that I started with the quilt I showed January 16th, 2011.  I wish I knew how to add the links to take you back this quilt, but I'm just not there yet.  But someday soon........

My Stitching

This is for Cathy, just wanted to show you the pre-printed panel I'm stitching.  I have 2 shades of green and 2 shades of a pink/salmon that I'm working with.  I also have some batting on the back of the section I'm currently working on.  I'll do that with each section and when I'm ready to sandwich the quilt, the embroidered area will look a little padded.  Not really a true trapunto, but kind of close.

I also have half or 8 of my strips sewn together for my king-size quilt.
