First UFO Off The List

I forgot to post about my first UFO off the list, my twist bag.  These bags are addictive and I can see me making more of them in the future.  They would make a great market bag.

I also love that we live on an acreage, the wildlife we get to witness is just amazing!
I have to share this one with you!

Busy Day

Yesterday was a busy day.  First, I finished three "Hard Tack and Coffee" blocks and 20 chevron blocks.  In the afternoon I had an appointment to get fitted for new contacts and then I stopped at Costco.  And they had this: the Ciao Rolling Carry On.

My Featherweight fits in it perfectly.  Great for traveling to Retreats or Quilt Day.

There is a flap that snaps up to keep things in place.  You can see the top of the machine just peeking out.

And why yes, it's on rollers.

There was even the clear bag for toiletries which will be great for thread.  And lots of pockets.
All this for $29.99!

A Little Finish

I had a little finish this morning.  I have had this origami gift bag cut out and sitting on my cutting table for some time ( year and a half).  We bought a new weather radio as our old one got ruined.  We had left the batteries in it over the winter.  So the new one came today and we needed some place to store all the cords and the radio.  I have the perfect thing!

The radio is small, so it and all of the cords that came with it will fit in the bag.  One more finish and "cleaned" off my cutting table.

Ten

I have 10 of these little guys done!  I may have to set some weekly goals for me this summer.  I really need to be cleaning out some closets besides sewing.   But the sewing is so much more fun...

Blocks With Lots Of Little Pieces

I've been working on blocks with lots of little pieces.  First up are the Chevron blocks for Celtic Solstice.  These blocks use 6 pieces to make a 3.5 inch block.  Love the way they are turning out.

And than there are the blocks for "Hard Tack and Coffee".  These blocks measure 5 inch square when complete and there are 15 pieces to this block.  Again, loving how they are turning out.

But I'm starting to question my sanity....

Vacation

We just got back from vacation!  We went to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park.  What an amazing country we have here in the United States.

Started out in the Grand Tetons.

Grand Tetons

Wildflowers and Sage

A brown bear.
Then we were onto Yellowstone.

Snow!
We knew it would be cold, but we didn't expect snow.

Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.

Bison

What a wonderful time we had, so much to see and do.  Lots of hiking and enjoyment of nature.

Too Embarrassed

I'm too embarrassed to show you pictures of how bad my quilting room has become.  So yesterday as part of the clean up, I cut up the scrap from the bin I unloaded of my Lewis and Clark project.  I have enough fabric left over to make pillow cases to match quilt.

I only got the light scrap cut, today I'm working on the dark fabrics.  I also found some polyblend that I will use as the base for some string quilt blocks.  Slowly the piles are disappearing from the cutting table.

I have a list that I do for the year, but I'm thinking I need to start doing a list for the week too. Like Confessions Of A Fabric Addict does every week.  My list won't be near as ambitious, but it will be a start for me.  And maybe help me stay on track of projects.

Jumble

What a jumble of a day!  I have worked a little on the chevron blocks for Celtic Solstice as I was so excited to have all the squares marked and ready to go.  But I decided to do a little cleaning. too.  I came across a bin of all the left over fabrics from my Lewis and Clark quilt.

What a jumbled mess that was.  Pattern parts, fabric bits etc just stuck there.  Since working on UFOs and getting some done, I've been a little better about sorting out the fabrics and adding them back to the proper bin or making squares or stings out of them.  I found these blocks in there also.

These are the colors that Hancock Fabrics had chosen.  The finished blocks are going in the orphan block bin.  I also had purchased some jewelry charms on clearance that was to be use to embellish the Lewis and Clark quilt.  I'm thinking I may make the tree block into a pillow and decorate the tree with the charms.

So are you good about putting the fabric back in the stash when you finish a project???

Summer Break

Today is the first day of my summer break!  I love this day.  I have so many projects I want to work on this summer, namely those UFOs that I listed out at the first of the year.  I have yet to take any to the finish line, but soon.

It's been kind of wild weather-wise around here.  We had a big storm on Sunday and then another on Tuesday which left us without electricity both times.  Plus, we didn't have any last night.  No storms, I figured they had to cut the power to finish working on a major project.

This is what we ended up with Tuesday:

Hail
At least we had little hail and not the big stuff that was north of us.  We had that a couple of years ago, so I really feel for what our neighbors to the north of us are going through.

Water
The water came rushing off the fields behind and to the sides of us.  This is our side yard.  Lots of old corn stalks left for us to pick up.

Today is overcast and I'm working on cleaning up my cutting table.  Along with that, I'm cutting the 2 inch squares I need to finish step 2 of Celtic Solstice.
