Snow/Sew Day

Monday was a snow/sew day!  Over the weekend we had officially 9 inches of snow.  Plus strong winds which created big drifts.  So school/work was cancelled.

To the left, the snow came down fast and heavy.  You can see how much snow we already had before the 9 inches.

To the right, the deer left all kinds of tracks in the yard.  Not sure what they were looking for.

I finished the last block without the help of my trusty seam ripper.  Whew!

And I put the Sampler together.  Here is a link I found if you're interested in making this Sampler.  Fun blocks to make.

I am going to use this Sampler as a backing so will add the borders to fit the quilt top.

Biorhythms

Wow, were my sewing biorhythms off on this block!

The split half square triangle that is in the bottom row of the block is correct.  the other three blocks are pieced incorrectly.  So my pretty seam ripper and I joined together again to make things right.

All done!

I have one more block to make like this and then I can start sewing the blocks together.  Hope the the next one goes together without my seam ripper.  Shhhh... don't tell my seam ripper.

Snow/Sew Day

Wednesday was another snow/sew day for me!  And I completed 3 blocks!  Woohoo!
The first block, this tree.  What a fun block to make.  I'd love to make a quilt of trees like I have seen online.

The next two blocks were presents.  Also fun to make!

I'm down to my last two blocks!  Then I can sew it all together.

"One" Long Block

The block I worked on last week was "one" long block.  See?

The corners are flip and sew and I even squared up the bonus triangles as I went.  As you can see, it's really 4 blocks together.

I made a little boo boo when cutting out the blocks.  I had all the strips the same width and as you can see, some were to be smaller.  When I was all finished and ready to sew the side strips, it was bigger than the sides.  OOPS!   So my seam ripper and I had a bonding party and I recut things down the size they should be and all went together smoothly.

All well that ends well.

Another One Done!

Another one is done!  I'm going to have to remember to set up more quilts like I did this one.  It's fun to pull out a bag of bits of fabric and sew them together and a block is done!

Bagging them up that way makes it perfect to take along for a day of sewing or Retreating.

A Day Off

Yesterday I had a day off work.  It's the end of the trimester.

I have been spending most of my 15 minutes this past week pressing and cutting scrap.  My 2 inch square basket is filling up as is my 2.5 inch basket.

After cutting scrap most of the morning, I got out a project that was started last summer, a Christmas sampler.  I was using up old Christmas fabric as I want to use this as a backing on a quilt.  Here is the block I finished yesterday.

It was nice to finish this block.  I have the rest of the blocks I need to make all cut out, just need to sew them together.  I'll be working on that this weekend and into next week if need be.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Homework Is Done

My homework is done!  I love the way this Peas In A Pod quilt is coming out.

Now to figure the next 2 borders as I want to use my charm squares from this fabric line to create the outer border.  Quilt Math!!
