Quilting In My Head

Do you ever do "Quilting In My Head"?  You think of a project and go through all the steps in your head to create that project.  As you do it, you think "That shouldn't take too long!".  Hahaha   That's me.  Started the project and here I am still working on it.  I hope to be able to show it to you soon.

In the meantime I have been doing these blocks from "Walk In The Park" as leaders/enders:

I love how the Ombre fabrics make the blocks look just a little different from each other.  At least I feel like something is being accomplished!

Cross Stitch

Have you noticed that Cross Stitch is making a "come back"?  I did lots of cross stitch and counted cross stitch in the '80s and "90s.  (I know, showing my age.)  Actually I've been cross stitching since I was five.  My Grandmother taught me how.  These are my first two pieces:

They were to be potholders.  I guess you could say these are my oldest UFOs!  I started the UFO habit early!

But once I got bit by the quilting bug, I kind of quit doing cross stitch.  I cleaned out a bunch of kits and saved a few for "Retirement".  And that leads me to now. I bought this kit at a garage sale for 25 cents years ago.  So I decided to spend some time in the afternoon stitching.

I'm thinking it will be made into a large pincushion.  Or maybe another potholder...

A Little Progress On This Project

A little progress on this project, "Walk In The Park" by V & CO.  I have all the big flower blocks and the leaf blocks completed.  I have been working on the little flower blocks.

The blocks do take some time as there are 51 pieces in each block.  I have each block bagged up ready to sew and I love seeing each one completed.

I'm also working on another project that is taking way longer than I thought it would, but I hope to be able to show it to you soon.

Grassy Creek Mystery Quilt

Grassy Creek Mystery Quilt is now a top!  So glad to have it this far, I even ordered a backing for it!

 Woohoo!!

As you may know, if you follow Bonnie Hunter, this quilt had lots of lovely string blocks.  I was not able to make those as I didn't have enough grays in my stash for the variety needed.  But I am pretty happy with the way this has turned out.

Dirty Dozen Number Is Nine

Mary has drawn the number for February and the Dirty Dozen Number is nine.  For me it's a twin size bed spread.  The pattern was a free pattern from way back when, from Stitchin' Tree quilt shop.  It calls for a focus fabric for the center and you add borders (my favorite, NOT) to make it larger.

I'm already behind on my other UFOs, so I really need to get myself in gear and catch up and keep going!

Still Sewing!

Yes, I'm still sewing on Grassy Creek Mystery.  Sometimes it doesn't go as fast as you would like.  I've been working on the quilt everyday, just not as much time on some days.

I do have all the blocks sewn together and the small green border on.  But I have been spending time trying to figure out how to do the next border.   It's been too cold and snowy to get any outside pictures, so I have this sad indoor picture.  But at least you get to see a quilt, right?

I have some gray fabrics but not enough of each to do a whole border.  These are the two I have:

So I decided to make the number of string blocks the pattern called for, but use these fabrics.  We'll see how it goes!
