An Upcycle

I upcycled my pressing mat that I made some time ago.  For some reason I kind of quit using it.  You can see it  here.    I took the binding off, added a zipper and some more stitching and now I have an iron bag.  The pattern I used was from Lindsay Conner from lindsaysews.com, but I checked her website and I couldn't find the pattern.  😕  Sorry I'm not able to share that, but there are lots of other free patterns and tutorials if you search for "boxy bag".

My travel iron and another pressing mat will fit inside this bag.  It's perfect because this bag has the ironing board fabric inside plus I will wrap my iron in my other pressing mat before putting it in this bag.  Protection for the hot iron and the bag keeps the cord from getting all tangled up. It feels so good to use my old mat this way!  

A Few Extras

A few extras have ended up in the mix.  I made two more Boxy Quilted Pouches.

Another extra I completed is the quilting on a quilt called, 'Lillian" by Villa Rosa Designs, finally! I've been working on that since 2016.  I had to laugh as I said it would be ready by Christmas 2016.  Another post in 2018 has me still working on quilting it.  And this project isn't even a part of Project 52. So far I have been able to get all of the background cut out for "Film at Five" which is Project 23.  I still want to sew on "Hello Garden" (Project 22) and complete those blocks before I start "Film at Five".  These bigger projects are going to take me a while.

Week 19 Of Project 52

Week 19 of Project 52 is done!  I'm getting a few things done which helps to keep me going!  Here is Week 19 Project, the Boxy Quilted pouch in little Fairy fabric.

In addition, our Quilt Guild is doing a Block Lotto every month.  Last month I made these blocks with a theme of red and pink.

And these are the blocks I made yesterday for the March Block Lotto.  The theme for this month is Polka Dot.

The blocks are really fun and easy to make.  It uses a five inch square for the center and the block is called a "polaroid" block.  If you are interested in making your own blocks, here is a free tutorial I found online by Melissa Mortenson at Polkadot Chair blog.

Week 17 Of Project 52

 Week 17 of Project 52 is now complete!  When I first added it, I thought there was only one bag and instead I had two bags cut out.  Both are done!  

I still have a few more to finish.

Update On Project 52

 A little update on Project 52, I finished Week 18 of Project 52.  TaDa!

And this is why I always take so long to finish one Project, as I work on others at the same time:  two more quilted boxy pouches!

There is a story behind these two bags.  Last month a friend won these two FQ fabrics at Quilt Guild but she didn't want them as she is trying to clean out her sewing room.  And she gave them to me.  So, I made up the little bags and gifted them back to her last night.  It was a WinWin, she got some little bags and I got to play with the cute fabrics! 

Week 17 Of Project 52

 Week 17 of Project 52 will have to be another easy project, Boxy Quilted Pouch.  I got the pattern when it was on Craftsy  but I have a link for you to the oringial designer if you want to make your own.  I have three of these on my project list.  Here is the first one:

These are fun little pouches to make. I have made others.  You can check it out here and here and here.  I should go through my stash and combine more fat quarters.  But that's for another day, I have too many projects to get caught  up on right now.  Maybe for Round Two of Project 52?
