Pinning

This past weekend we went to visit the grandchildren and I spent time pinning on the drive.  I had all my  Lozenges blocks in groups of 4, ready to pin.  I worked on that in the car on the way.  Two rows are sewn and ready to be pressed.  All the other rows are pinned.

I have my last "Bubbles" class tonight.  I have about half of those sewn and ready to play with and arrange into a fun setting.

Blocks and Rows

Blocks of curvy log cabins and rows of Lozenges have been happening.  I have about half of my log cabin blocks done.

And the Lozenges blocks are making it into rows.  They are now either groups of 4 or pinned and ready to become groups of 4.

You'll find me at my machine for a while, sewing, sewing, sewing.  I'm using the Lozenges as true Leaders and Enders for my curvy log cabin blocks.

(If you click the link it sends you to Bonnie Hunter's blog to her book Leaders and Enders, it explains what a Leader and Ender is.  It's a way to work on 2 quilts at once!)

Still At It

I'm still at it, making curvy log cabins.  Tuesday I had the day off and was hoping to make at least 10 blocks, I finished 9.  I was pretty happy with that amount.  Still have lot more to make.

One more round to go and this one will be done.  Love how these look all finished!

Satisfied

I'm feeling pretty satisfied with all the cutting I have accomplished.  I have 3 quilts cut and ready for summer sewing.  All are scrap quilts and no new fabric was purchased and I still have lots of stash.  All is well.  Hahaha

I have been doing some sewing on my curvy log cabin blocks and last night I pinned a few Lozenge blocks together.  I sewing them now as the true Leader and Ender project they were to be while sewing my curvy log cabin blocks.  I spent last summer sewing all the corners on the centers of the Lozenge blocks.  That was time consuming.

Sitting by the machine, ready to be sewn.
A couple of them sewn.

I think I'm really going to like this quilt!

Another Project

Another project is all cut out and ready to sew.  I am thinking of changing a shelf in the closet of the sewing room to hold projects I have cut out.  That way when I'm packing for a Retreat, I can just grab a project.  (Because, face it, we all want to start something new at a Retreat.)  I feel so satisfied when I get a project cut out.  I've used a bunch of my 2.5 inch strips and I have room for cutting more scraps now.  It's a win/win!

I should also add a shelf for UFOs, too.  There are times when I want to work on a project and take it to the finish line.  Although that doesn't happen near as often as it should!

A space for quilt tops.  Hmm....   I know what I'm working on next, more reorganization!
Thanks for listening while I think this through right here and now!

Guess What?

Guess what?  I won another quilt from Villa Rosa Designs!  It's this quilt:

Called Show Biz.  I love it!  This quilt will be going to Wings Of Hope, a breast cancer support group.  I want to thank Villa Rosa Designs for sharing these amazing quilts with people in need.  You are amazing Villa Rosa Designs!

Last Block

Last block for the sampler quilt is completed!  Even though the Flying Geese blocks were fun to make, they weren't as accurate as I would like.  I think I may have to play with them more to become better.  But the block is done and I'm happy.

Now to get the background blocks cut out and get this top sewn together!

Bubbles

Last night was the second night of the Bubbles class.  These 5 blocks are ready to go.

It's going to be fun playing with the blocks and deciding on a layout when I have them all completed.

Last Block

I'm working on the last block for my sampler quilt.  And I tried something new with this.  Jean had us doing the "No Waste Flying Geese" block.  Oh so much fun!

You have one big square with two smaller squares pinned, draw a line down the middle and sew quarter inch on either side of the line. Cut in half.

Press open and draw another line down the center.  Sew quarter inch on each side of the line and cut.

You end up with the nicest Flying Geese blocks.  Thanks Jean for having us use this method.

Be sure to Google "No Waste Flying Geese blocks".  You will find detailed directions and charts on what size to cut your rectangles and squares.
