Done!

I finished Snapshot and it's been given away.

 I was making it for my sister, Deb, so she could use it as her chemo quilt.  And she is one of the few people who would enjoy my cat and dog fabric as much as myself.  Most of them we either bought together or bought ourselves and shared a fat quarter with the other.

The backing was flannel and Deb had a collie, so I thought she would like to have her collie with her during her treatments.  I did straight line quilting, since I wanted to get this done fast.  She has her second treatment on Thursday.  I forgot to take a picture of the label, but it does have one!

Snapshot top is done!

Our LQS, Cut Up & Quilt has a monthly group called CUAQ Therapy (pronounced Quack Therapy).  They meet in the afternoon and again in the evening.  I am showing Snapshot.  (Yes I'm in the middle of talking.)  It's such a fun group!  So inspiring to see what other quilters have worked on.

Now that the top is done, I have a question.  After you make a quilt, how often do you make another one just like it?  I'm thinking I might need to, but there are so many patterns.......

Done!

The blocks are done!  Now to figure out how to set them together.

Sashing!

There is sashing!  All the pieces are cut out and some are even sewn together.  The rest are pinned and ready to be sewn tonight.

Lots Of Progress

I feel like I made lots of progress yesterday on Snapshot.  All the smaller pieces of the block are made.

Even though it was a cold, cold day, the sun was shining which helps me be so much more productive.  And I was!  I did choose a different sashing, I just couldn't cut up the newsprint fabric. Instead I went with a kind of yellowish back ground with tan paw prints.

Now to get the sashing cut and get the bigger blocks made.  (I see I have one of my blocks with the black sashing turned the wrong way.  Good thing this was just the audition.)

Thank you Jean for making me go back and root through my stash again.  That's when I found this piece.  It wasn't in the correct tub of fabric.

Sew Day!

Because of the Chill Index, we don't have school today, so I get a sew day!  More progress made on Snapshot last night.  Took a little over a half an hour to pin all my blocks, but they are ready to sew.

My hope today is to get this sewing done, more pinning and to cut the sashing needed from this fabric.  I love this.  Just cracks me up.

Pin TIme

I finished cutting the black strips for Snapshot and did the sub cutting.  I also did a little pin time with the smallest squares.  Pinned the little strip to the side of each block so that tonight I can sit down and sew these.  Yay!

Don't let the smallness of the blocks confuse you, there are 60 of this little guys.

This is for Patti!

 This is the pattern I fell in love with.  Enough so that I started pulling fabric from my stash.  It's called Snapshot and was designed by Gudrun Erla.  The quilt was in the Fall 2012 issue of Easy Quilts.

As I'm pulling the stash fabrics, I'm feeling odd.  Some of these fabrics have lived with me for a long time.  I'm equating it to my Retirement fund.  I have been buying/collecting fabric for some time (20 years) for my retirement.  I'm not retired yet, but I won't be penalized for early withdrawal.  After saving for so many years, it's odd to switch the mindset to use it mode.  But I am!  It's just as fun as saving/collecting mode!
