Progress!

I'm so excited by the progress!  I have finished all the parts to the blocks and assembly has started.

And there was this beautiful sunrise this morning!

Hope you have a special day!

Brilliant Idea

I had a brilliant idea, if I do say so myself.  LOL  It's either that or a smack in the head that I didn't think of it sooner.  Actually, it may be the latter.

So I've been working on making my split HSTs.

And I've been using some 25 patch blocks as my leaders/enders as I sew these.  But wait!  I could use my block pieces that will make my 54-40 or Fight blocks!  They are to the point that it's like making a nine patch.

That way I have pieces made for the next block and I complete the 54-40 or Fight blocks, making me that much further ahead.  Sometimes....

Slowly

I've been slowly getting my split HSTs put together.  Slow and steady wins the race.  This quote from Bonnie Hunter inspires me to keep going.

And I'm not stopping!

Progress

I've made some progress on my split triangle blocks.  They are a little time consuming, but they are going together nicely.

I bagged up all the units for the block that uses the four patches.  So those are ready for me to sit and sew.
As I was bagging them.
One step closer to being finished.

Bouncing

It may appear that I'm bouncing all over, but I am doing it in a focused way.  I know, it sounds like that can't be.  I printed out the Habit Tracker from Shelly at Prairie Moon Quilts.  I didn't find this tracker until the end of May, so I jumped right in with June.

Work on UFO 15 minutes/day is for working on a UFO I started in December of 2013, Celtic Solstice.  I finished the 4 patches and have now moved on the Split Triangle Unit.  Had to sew one together as a sample that I cut everything correctly.

So I'll be working at making kits of this block so I can sit and sew, sew, sew!

Number Five

Number five was the number drawn for the Dirty Dozen and that is my mini 4th of July wall hangings.  They are pretty close to being done and I bet these are over 20 years old.

Even though these wall hangings are so old, they still look timely.  Patriotic colors never go out of style, at least in my opinion.

Dirty Dozen

I don't think I gave very clear information on the Dirty Dozen in yesterday's post.  So taking some the rules from Country Threads blog, here's what you do:

THE DIRTY DOZEN GAME
Find 12 unfinished projects in your sewing room or craft area.  Number them 1-12.
On the first day of each month for 12 months I will draw a number and post that number on the blog. (Country Threads blog)
Find your coordinating number and finish that project in the next 30 days.
Take a picture with your name written on a tag pinned to the project and send it to me at marye@ncn.net.
The last step is if you want your project shown on Mary's blog, your choice if you want to show your finish.  Hope this makes more sense.  And like I said, a fun way to finish some of those UFOs.

A New Game Of The Dirty Dozen

Today starts a new game of the Dirty Dozen at Country Threads.  You make a list of 12 UFOs or projects to get completed in a month.  On the first day of each month, Mary and Connie draw a  number and that is the project you work on.

My List:
1. Finish baby bibs
2. Make 4 Iowa pillowcases
3. Finish the Sophie pillowcase
4. Baste and quilt "Chapel in the Pines" quilt top
5. Finish mini 4th of July wallhangings
6. Wool xmas ornament
7. Wool spool pincushion
8. Finish QAYG string quilt
9. Twin quilt with free pattern from Stitchin' Tree quilts
10. Three Fat Quarter table runner
11. Pillow using finished Cross Stitch
12. Pillow using finished Needlepoint

Out of last year's list I finished 9 of the 12 projects.  Two of the projects were my inability to make a decision.  One was the backing fabric needed for Pacific Grove quilt top and Hide And Seek pattern with Alaska fabric.

But my most recent finish was my May 2020 Dirty Dozen, this 30 Minute Table runner.

They do go together super fast and I think they look super cute!

So, are you thinking about working on some UFOs this year?  It's a fun way to get some finished.
