Out With Friends

We were out with friends Friday night for our annual Valentine Day Dinner.  The girls always give little gifts to each other.  This year both Mary and Chris went all out.  Mary got a new knitting machine and made the hat for me.  It's a soft yarn along with a furry tassel.  Mary is also an amazing cook and baker.  She made homemade ice cream and cake doughnut muffins.  (The muffins were delish!)

Sorry I didn't realize this picture moved.  Must be the love in her cooking.

Chris is an amazing knitter and crocheter.  She knitted this darling dish soap cover and soft dish cloths.  They will be fun to use!

What a blessing to have such good friends.

Sewing

I did get a little sewing done this morning.  Two of the blocks are pieced and are ready to be put together as a nine patch.  Yea!  Progress!

Jumping Around

OK, I'm jumping around.  Startitis hit and I couldn't overcome the urge.  So the start of another new project has happened, even with all the other projects I need to finish!

It's all Amy's fault as I can't be responsible for the fun.  Amy at "Sew Incredibly Crazy" blog has her 3rd BOM starting this month, It's a "Wild" Life BOM.  You may have to check it out yourself which is why I gave you the link.  Wink, Wink.

I got the blocks cut out.  And because I'm even crazier, I'm doing 2 of the same quilt.

I've got to get some sewing done this evening!!

Quiet Day

It was a quiet day.  After taking my machine to a class, it takes a little time to settle everything back in it's place.  And that's what I accomplished.  I also ironed my leftover bag fabric and wrapped it over the comic book board.

I like using the comic book boards as they keep the fabric smooth and I can stand them on their side in a bin. I use to just fold the fabric and put it in a bin by color.  But I would have to pull all of the fabric out when I was looking for a certain piece.  This way I can see them at a glance.  I wrote about this in 2013 when I first started doing this with my fabric. You can check it out here.

Mama's Got A New Bag!

Mama's got a new bag!  Yesterday I took a bag class at Cut Up & Quilt, my local quilt shop.  Jean walked us through the making of this bag,  The "Brancaster Messenger Bag" by Emma Brennan of Charlie's Aunt

I really like the bag on the pattern, made from wool.  I may have to make another one.

We started out Friday with a cutting party from 5-6.  Just to get the pieces cut and the interfacing and fleece interfacing ironed on.  I got the pieces cut out but didn't get the interfacing cut.

Back Saturday morning bright and early, to start up where we left off the night before.  I like that little bit of a jump start the night before.  Got the interfacing on and started sewing.  Before the day was over, I had a new bag!

The floral fabric is some I had in my stash.  It reminds me of an Amy Butler fabric, but there is no writing on the salvage edges.   The lining and outside pocket are made from Grunge fabric.  I can't believe how well it matched!  Love this new bag!

Batting

Pieced some batting scraps together and cut them the correct size for my fabric boxes.  Hope to have more to show you by tomorrow! Progress made!

Fabric Boxes

I did some prep work for making fabric boxes.  I've cut the squares and need to cut or piece batting for these.  I'm using this tutorial again.  I've made so many and they go together so fast.

I also need to pick up some buttons for these at JoAnn's.  Hope I can find some, I should have been thinking about this earlier.
